“Our Authority, our Right
Is given by the Light, of Jesus our Lord, By His Power and Might.
He purchased it all
And purchased us too
By His wonderful blood
It’s absolutely true.”
We must also be settled that it is absolutely true we have this authority/right as believers, because if we don’t then we will believe:
• Satan, the thief, has the right “…to steal, kill, and destroy…” (John 10:10), anything that is ours, or, any of us.
• We can’t overcome addictions, sinful habits, drugs, etc.
• We have to accept every negative and evil circumstance that happens to come our way, being powerless to do anything about it.
The reality is that the Cross of Christ, and His finished work, changed EVERYTHING. The finished work of Jesus at the cross means newness of life and a starting point for our new life in Him. Meaning we can believe that ALL He says is ours, is ours! He is faithful Who promised!
We must also be settled in the fact that we have the right/authority to reign in life because we have been made right with God, having received the Gift of Righteousness. Again, Romans 5:17 states “…surely will those who receive [God’s] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).” Here’s how this Gift was given to us, “Christ had no sin, but God made him become sin so that in Christ we could become right with God” (2 Corinthians 5:21).
And because righteousness is a gift (which is something given voluntarily without payment in return, as to show favor toward someone), and we did nothing to merit it, deserve it, or earn it (the abundance of Grace), we can’t lose it, because it’s all in Christ and He doesn’t change.
“Now that He doesn’t change, Means we can always reign, Because we are backed by His Power, Every day and every hour.”
Next: Reigning in our personal world.
