Righteousness is a free gift. Such a simple statement, but such a hard truth to grasp for many. Let’s take a deeper look, and believe together for revelation by the Holy Spirit.

First of all, righteousness is free. It’s free to the world, and it’s free to us as believers. But, it wasn’t free to God the Father. He gave and sacrificed His only son, Jesus, to be crucified, bruised, beaten, battered, whipped, scourged, spit on, have thorns pushed into His head, shamed, reviled, mocked, crushed, punished, and judged for the sin of the world. It was this sacrifice of Jesus, which made righteousness free for mankind. Romans 5:19 states, “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.” It was Adam’s disobedience which made us all sinners, but it was Jesus obedience which gave us the divine exchange for righteousness. Do not think so small of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and all He went through that you are only righteous until your next sin. No, beloved, the blood He shed is eternal, everlasting, and never loses its power. Never! Meaning our righteousness is eternal and everlasting.

And by His blood, righteousness is a gift. It is not a reward. It is a gift to be received with a GREAT BIG PRAISE YOU JESUS! Thank you, thank you, thank you Jesus! Romans 4:13, “For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir of the world was not through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith.” Paul plainly tells us that righteousness is not based on obeying the law, but a gift received by faith, trust, and being firmly persuaded that it is all in Jesus and what HE did. In Him, by Him and though Him, the righteousness of God becomes ours by faith in Jesus Christ.
