Hopetown will be the last step in the journey to recovery of not just any addiction but recovery from the dysfunction the personal incapacities, disadvantaged social status, inadequacy of interpersonal networks and supports, degraded neighborhoods and environments. Hopetown will be a community that provides support to people and whole families after they have graduated one of our programs and are motivated and ready to move into the next stage of their life journey. We will do this by providing them with a way to purchase their own home and own their own business or in a job where they can flourish and grow - all in a small town environment. Assist people to achieve personal goals, overcome barriers, participate in activities and interests that will continue to build their self confidence and self esteem, a support system and lasting friendships. All residents will participate in the community. Our mission at Hopetown is to support people and whole families with an emphasis on families to live valued enriched lives and to build on the skills they have already gained in one of our programs.

Studies of parenting find that low family income and maternal hardship hamper children’s cognitive and social competence. Moreover, parents in poor living environments have difficulty nurturing and protecting their children, increasing the likelihood that children will gravitate into activities and peer associations leading to school dropout, premature sexual experience, use of drugs, and other deviant behavior. Family deprivations also increase the probability of abuse and neglect of children, who then seek to escape the household early, associate with inappropriate peers, form tenuous sexual partnerships, have early pregnancies, and often replicate the pattern of inadequate parenting they experienced as children.

Therefore we realize that to successfully have a lasting effect and change lives we need to offer more than a temporary program where they graduate and return to their old environments, peers and issues they left. We need to give them the opportunity and the tools to become successful people living in Victory for the long term! These issues and others will be addressed through Hope Center Community Outreach, New Hope or Hope Ranch and after graduating one of those programs the skills and confidence learnt there will be built upon in their new life at Hopetown. Neighborhoods are typically composed of individuals whose key statuses are similar. Therefore, the people in these neighborhoods, as well as those in the same social networks share similar ways of relating and doing things. People who share similar statuses will also have had experience similar hardships and, furthermore, they will respond to these hardships in similar ways, with similar resources... So we can turn this negative into a positive with built in support systems with people who truly understand because they have been there.

The key being they first have gone through and graduated from one of our programs and are ready and have the motivation to utilize the tools gained through the program and bigger yet have received Jesus as Lord and Saviour and have a relationship with Him. Becoming part of a community that has the built in support system to continue both their walk with the Lord but also have the opportunity to own their own home and business or a job. Life at Hopetown would provide its residents with real relationships between generations, as friends, aunts and uncles, grandparents and grandkids to those who have no family. Relationships would be deep and lasting, enduring even after people might move – combined this will break the cycle of poverty and dysfunction and give people an opportunity to truly change their lives.
